Following the recent sharing of my correspondence with an American friend who is currently staying in the north of England, in which we discussed the English poet, Francis Thompson, and the English Martyrs who resisted the Tudor Terror, I thought I’d share our follow-up correspondence, primarily for the compendious reading list that my friend supplies.
I’ve received an e-mail from an old friend, an American, who I first meet, way back in the late 1990s, in Preston, a town in Lancashire in the north of England. He has now returned to that same town, at least for a while. What follows, therefore, is an exchange between an American living in England and an Englishman living in America. You will note that we were writing to each other on Thanksgiving.
